Marine crew members are directly responsible for the safe operation of their vessel, and also for interacting with guests and contributing to the welcoming atmosphere that encourages tens of thousands of guests to visit us every year.

Seasonal operations run from April to October.

Kingston 1000 Islands Cruises is seeking Marine personnel with Transport Canada Mate or Master certifications, holding a Mate or Master Ltd over 60 Tons or higher certification. The ideal candidate will be an experienced vessel operator interested in working in a customer-service focused environment.

Job Requirements:

Qualifications:
· >60 ton limited Mates or Masters or equivalent at TC’s discretion.
· G driver’s license.
· Positive attitude and approach.
· Ability to work in a fast-paced, guest-focused environment.
· Strong verbal communication skills in English.
· Heavy lifting and other demanding physical work is occasionally required.

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities in Position of Master:
· Ensure safe operation of vessel at all times.
· Supervise all crew in safety drills and daily performance.
· Maintain vessel operation and maintenance logs, crew reports and vessel records.
· Be accountable for accurate and timely reporting and documentation.
· Lead training as directed by Senior Master.

Responsibilities in Position of Mate:
· Lead and participate in emergency drills, maintain all vessel safety equipment.
· Ensure that crew work in a safe environment and follow safety procedures.
· Stand underway watches as wheelsman, lookout, and other navigational functions.
· Act as the On-Scene Person in Charge during onboard emergencies.
· Handle lines, and supervise others during docking and departing maneuvers.
